The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) stepped in to offer meaningful support to Jamaica, following the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. In response to the devastation caused by Melissa, he donated $350,000 from his XO Humanitarian Fund to bolster relief efforts.
The donation will help scale up emergency operations aimed at reaching as many as 200,000 Jamaicans who are facing food insecurity and displacement. Jamaica bore a heavy burden as the storm, classified as a category 5 event, made landfall.
The contribution builds on The Weeknd’s long-standing commitment to global humanitarian causes. As a Goodwill Ambassador for the World Food Programme, he launched the XO Humanitarian Fund in 2022, channeling proceeds from his After Hours Til Dawn tour to support food security around the world.
At a time when the people in western Jamaica needs it most, The Weeknd’s donation underscores the importance of collective action — and the difference that one individual can make.
