We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Stephen “Cat” Coore, co-founder, guitarist, cellist, and creative heart of the legendary reggae band Third World. He died on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the age of 69, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that helped shape reggae music around the world.
For more than five decades, Cat Coore’s musicianship, innovation, and commitment to musical fusion elevated reggae’s reach — blending roots with soul, funk, pop, and rock — and inspired generations of artists and fans alike.
