Dancehall star Aidonia and his family were jolted from their sleep early Friday morning when members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force conducted a raid at his St. Andrew home. The search, carried out under a signed warrant around 5 a.m., was part of what authorities described as a wider targeted operation within the St. Andrew North Division.
Despite the intensity of the police presence, no illegal items were discovered on the premises.
Aidonia, whose real name is Sheldon Lawrence, was at home with his wife, young son, and another family member when the raid occurred.
That relative was later taken to the Constant Spring Police Station for what police labeled “routine checks.” According to Aidonia’s brother and manager, Lav “Lalo” Lawrence, the action was strictly procedural and should not be blown out of proportion.
“No one was arrested, nothing illegal was found. One family member was taken by the police to the station to check if there were any infractions against him, that’s it,” Lawrence explained.
He further expressed dismay at the incident, describing it as unnecessary and damaging to the artiste’s reputation.
“I am very surprised by this operation because Aidonia is an upstanding family man and beloved member of his community. To see this unfold is embarrassing and taints the artiste’s image. Aidonia’s sole focus is his family and career,” Lawrence added.
Police confirmed that other individuals detained during the operation were not connected to Aidonia or his household but were part of separate investigations in the area.
For now, the entertainer and his family are focusing on moving forward, while fans and community members continue to rally around him in support.
