Jamaican reggae star Protoje has officially kicked off his highly anticipated 2026 U.S. tour, setting the tone for the release of his seventh studio album, The Art of Acceptance, due out Friday, April 17 via In.Digg.Nation Collective and Ineffable Records.
The expansive North American trek will see Protoje performing across more than 25 cities, following a successful 19-date European tour that concluded in London on April 12. The tour includes appearances at major festivals such as Reggae Rise Up, Austin Reggae Festival, and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, alongside a series of global headlining shows.
The momentum behind the tour comes fresh off Protoje’s staging of his Lost In Time festival in Jamaica, which drew over 16,000 patrons and highlighted some of the island’s top musical talent. Continuing the album rollout, the artist hosted a special listening experience on April 14 at Kingston’s iconic Carib 5 Cinema, blending music with cinematic storytelling.
The Art of Acceptance reflects a deeper, more introspective chapter in Protoje’s journey. The project positions him firmly as a global ambassador for reggae, while staying rooted in authenticity. A strong Jamaican lineup of collaborators—including Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Shenseea, Jesse Royal, Masicka, and Pressure Busspipe—reinforces that commitment to cultural integrity.
The album was shaped during a period of reflection, heavily influenced by time spent in Ethiopia, widely regarded as the spiritual home of Rastafari. That experience informs both the sonic and thematic layers of the project, grounding it in growth, clarity, and cultural connection.
Ahead of its release, the album’s singles have already surpassed 35 million combined streams. Tracks such as “At We Feet” featuring Damian Marley, “Ting Loud” featuring Masicka, “Goddess” featuring Shenseea, “BIG 45,” and “Feel It” have generated strong traction across streaming platforms, radio, and live performances.
Sonically, the album is anchored by longtime collaborator and producer Winta James, blending live instrumentation with modern production techniques. Contributions from musicians like Dean Fraser and Squidly Cole add a rich, analog warmth reminiscent of classic reggae, while digital elements nod to 90s dancehall and hip-hop influences.
Critics are already taking notice. Writing in The New York Times, Pat Meschino praised the project’s “exquisitely crafted one-drop rhythms,” while Reggaeville described it as “a contender for one of the albums of the year.”
The Art of Acceptance follows Protoje’s Grammy-nominated 2022 album Third Time’s The Charm, marking another milestone in a career defined by evolution, cultural pride, and global reach.
