Melodii Carving His Path with Conscious Music

Melodii

Recording artiste Melodii is carving out a name in the music industry with his soulful voice and relatable lyrics, steadily winning over fans who appreciate his conscious approach to music.

His latest single, Stages, released on August 31 under Stocks An Bondz Recordz, has been creating a buzz. According to Melodii, born Roderick Baker, the track is deeply personal. “The song was based on everything that I was actually going through with every step that I was taking with music. From different events, and from there, some other things started happening such as day-to-day life experiences,” he explained.

Hailing from Clarendon and a past student of Foga Road High School, Melodii discovered his passion for music at the tender age of 10. Over time, his popularity has grown through previous releases including Legends, Darkness, and Learn. Unlike many of his Dancehall counterparts, he takes pride in creating music without expletives. Listeners have welcomed this refreshing approach.

“Not everybody from my era or my age group is doing the type of music that I am. To see somebody like me who’s around a lot of different artistes and still choose to keep a firm meditation, the people love that,” he said.

Melodii draws inspiration from greats such as Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Christopher Martin, and Romain Virgo—artistes known for their conscious and clean music. Looking ahead, he envisions collaborating with Hammond, Masicka, or Nhance, whose work continues to motivate him.

With long-term goals to make music for all age groups on a global scale, Melodii is eyeing major festival stages like Reggae Sumfest and Rebel Salute. His mission is to stay true to himself while spreading positivity through music.

“I just want everybody to know that no matter what happens, this is me and this is always going to be me and I’m not going to change. I’m always going to do music and spread something positive. I’m always going to try to elevate myself and I want them to do the same,” he affirmed.
