International dancehall powerhouse T.O.K delivered a commanding performance as headliners of Panama’s Carnival on February 17, performing for a massive crowd of more than 70,000 revelers.
For the group, the moment marked a major milestone.
“It was our first time headlining the carnival. It was an amazing experience that we definitely enjoyed. It was very humbling to see all the turnout, support, and the love of the Panamanian people,” shared member Alistaire ‘Alex’ McCalla. “I really felt at home, and it was a good vibe and good energy. I had heard about it before, but hearing about something and seeing and being a part of it are two different things.”
Dancehall Resonates Across Borders
The performance highlighted the deep connection between Jamaica’s reggae and dancehall culture and Panama’s rich appreciation for Caribbean music. According to Alex, the group experienced overwhelming positivity, amplified by intentional engagement with the audience.
“Crowd participation was definitely there. I do speak a little Spanish which did help in terms of interacting. But when you can speak the native tongue and get the responses from them, it’s gratifying. Music is universal, yes, but when you can speak to the people, it resonates on a different level with them,” he explained.

The ability to connect linguistically added another layer to an already energetic show, proving once again that dancehall’s reach extends far beyond English-speaking territories.
A Memorable Milestone
The other members of the group — Roshaun ‘Bay-C’ Clarke, Craig ‘Craigy T’ Thompson, and Xavier ‘Flexx’ Davidson — also reflected on the significance of the moment.
Craigy T described the experience as unforgettable.
“It’s always a pleasure to perform for our fans. The only thing I would change is to have Flexx on stage with us. Maybe next time,” he said.
He added that one of the most powerful aspects of the night was witnessing the impact of their music across generations.
“For me, it was seeing the appreciation from the younger generations. Knowing that our music transcends boundaries. That and being introduced on stage by the mayor of Panama.”
What’s Next for T.O.K?
Following their triumphant performance in Panama, T.O.K is set to return to Jamaica for their next appearance. Official announcements will be made via the group’s social media platforms.
With decades in the industry and a catalog of global hits, T.O.K continues to prove that dancehall remains a dominant force on the international stage — uniting cultures, languages, and generations through music.
