Reggae Sumfest 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Commerce

Held from July 13 to 19, 2025, Reggae Sumfest once again turned Montego Bay into a vibrant epicenter of reggae, Dancehall, and Jamaican culture. Over seven dynamic days, the festival featured a mix of pre‑events—Family Fun Day, Street Dance, All White Party, Blitz, Global Fete—leading into two electrifying festival nights. The lineup included Dancehall titans like Vybz Kartel (making a comeback after over 14 years), Masicka, Tommy Lee Sparta, Skeng, Govana, Shaneil Muir, and others on Night One. Night Two blended reggae and R&B, with stars such as Tarrus Riley, Protoje, Lila Iké, I‑Wayne, Fantan Mojah, and even international icon Toni Braxton lighting up the stage.

Economic Ripples: Millions for Montego Bay

This 34th iteration of Sumfest had an economic impact that resonated far beyond the music. The influx of visitors filled hotels from Trelawny all the way to Negril, drove strong Airbnb bookings in Hanover and Trelawny, and boosted business for restaurants, supermarkets, taxi and tour operators, and small vendors across the region. The state minister highlighted that Sumfest contributed between US$10 million and US$20 million to the Montego Bay economy, benefiting both large properties and local enterprises.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness hailed Reggae Sumfest as “a powerful representation of Brand Jamaica,” noting that it melds music, spirit, and identity into a dynamic showcase on the world stage. He emphasized how cultural events like Sumfest feed into Jamaica’s development strategy by promoting the creative economy, tourism, and local entrepreneurship. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett echoed this, emphasizing the festival’s role in strengthening Jamaica’s reputation as a cultural destination and sustaining livelihoods
