450’s team says Barbados Reggae Weekend booking agent at fault for performance cancellation

We wish to address the inaccurate statement that was issued—and since retracted—by Barbados Reggae Weekend regarding 450’s scheduled performance.

Contrary to their claims, 450 was not paid in full. On March 6th, we received a deposit of $20,000 USD—not full payment as stated. Additionally, on April 3rd, we submitted receipts for flight bookings totaling $14,089 USD. Following a conversation on April 21st, it was discussed that if $5,000 USD was sent, we would proceed with booking the artiste’s flight and one additional roundtrip ticket, as that was what the amount could cover at the time. The understanding was that the remaining flight balance, along with the outstanding booking fee balance, would be settled upon arrival.

However, the $5,000 USD was not received on the discussed date. We allowed an additional 24 hours, and still no payment was made. It was only on Saturday, April 25th at 9:33 AM—the actual day of the show—that the $5,000 USD was received, which was obviously too late.

It is therefore misleading and unfair to suggest that responsibility for the non-appearance rests solely with the artiste. We believe in transparency and felt it necessary to correct the public record.

The entertainer’s management team has dubbed this as an unfortunate situation that directly contrasts his values and operations.

“450 takes professionalism seriously, and has always been dedicated to fulfilling his obligations to his fans. Therefore, it is disheartening that this matter—that was completely beyond our control and that which we worked tirelessly to resolve in a timely manner—occurred,” the team said.
